Microsoft wants Windows 10 to be the ‘best operating system for gamers’
Microsoft hopes to make Windows 10 “the best operating system we’ve ever created for gamers on PCs”, with functionality said to have been inspired by the company’s work on Xbox.
Teasing Microsoft’s plans for the upcoming OS in a video released last night, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that he was “excited to be talking” about PC gaming at next week’s Windows 10 event, before moving to assure Xbox fans that the company will “remain committed to gaming on console”.
“For the Xbox team this is the beginning of our discussion with fans about the work that we’re doing to bring gaming to the Windows 10 operating system,” he said. “It’s really nice to finally get to be able to talk about this. We’ll continue the conversation throughout the year.
“We remain committed to gaming on console but we know that we have fans and gamers that also play on PC and phone, and it’s important that we build out the features that we have, learning from what we’ve done on console and helping make Windows 10 the best operating system we’ve ever created for gamers on PCs.”
Windows 10 is due to launch later this year. An event for the unveiling of the operating system will be taking place next week.
