Uncharted 4: Multiplayer Confirmation is Good News
In the latest issue of Game Informer (via GameSpot), video game developer Naughty Dog confirmed that there will in fact be a multiplayer campaign for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The news is not a huge surprise, but it comes as a nice, new reveal for the highly anticipated sequel. The franchise first incorporated a multiplayer campaign starting with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The game’s competitive multiplayer campaign was surprisingly effective. It will be great to see what Naughty Dog has in store for the next installment of the franchise with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Hopefully, there will be an open multiplayer beta for Uncharted 4. The open multiplayer beta campaign for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was quite the event. What I enjoyed the most about the beta campaign was that all the progress from the beta version transferred over to the final game. Therefore, the levels, custom player options, weapons and player data that were gained from the beta version, transferred over to the final game.
I really hope that Naughty Dog will incorporate co-op play as well as multiplayer into Uncharted 4.The Co-op Adventure mode was one of my favorite play features for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. I hope Naughty Dog will bring back Co-op Adventure for Uncharted 4, but raise the stakes. The only thing I did not like about Co-op Adventure was the inability to play the chapters in the proper order. So, if there are separate chapters, I would prefer an option to make it easier to play the story chapters in their proper order.
My other wish is for multiplayer to get a bit more polish. It was not game breaking or terrible, but multiplayer had some janky glitches at times, such as lag for gun hits or melee attacks. Sometimes, gun attacks and melee attacks were unbalanced. Since the franchise is going next-gen, my hope is that the multiplayer experience for the game will be smoother and more polished than ever before. Naughty Dog has already been developing the game for considerable time. By the time this game is released, Naughty Dog will have no excuses. No release date is even set. All that has been revealed is that the game will be out in 2015. The Uncharted franchise cannot afford the disappointment for a franchise release similar to Assassin’s Creed Unity for Ubisoft.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is due out later in 2015. The game will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
