“Time flies”, “A night owl”, “High five”, “Just in case”, “Get your sh!t together” are just few of the many expressions we use every day. Those expressions and many other sayings are what make languages so alive and colorful. They are such an integrated part of our everyday communication that you’ve probably haven’t given much thought about the meaning behind those words or word sequences.
While some phrases are supposed to ease communication, they can also cause a lot of problems and confusion, especially for foreigners trying to learn a new language and where a particular phrase doesn’t translate very well.
One graphic artist and illustrator Nabhan Abdullatif probably realized the potential in this language barrier and decided to have some fun with those troublesome phrases. The result are these very simple and funny illustrations.
