Calling someone a freak is never pleasant, but the meaning of the word has changed in the past century. Today when we call someone “a freak” we usually refer to some quirk in their character, some peculiar desire or just plain bizarre behavior. But, not a century ago, freaks were people with physical flaws and birth defects who were usually shunt by society. Today those freaks are openly accepted and considered normal members of society, albeit with special needs.
Our perspective is changing every day. You can’t do anything about it. Every step you take going further depends of either your or someone else’s opinion.
You know how they say: If everything is going as it should, don’t worry something will mess up pretty quickly.
When we see a cute baby usually two things happen: One, our IQ drops and we start goo-gooing and gah-gahing all over the little creature and two, we look for similarities in the baby’s features with those of the parents, trying to guess who does the baby look like more. Oh look, it has daddy’s nose and mommy’s mouth, and so on. And sometimes they remind us so much of someone, we simply can’t put our finger on… Until we turn on the TV.
