Getting Uncharted 4 to 60fps will be ‘really f*****g hard’, says Naughty Dog
Getting Uncharted 4 to run at 60fps will be “really f*****g hard”, Naughty Dog has said.
Speaking to Game Informer, creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley explained that Naughty Dog is currently focused on creating “the best experience” it can for this year’s game, and that it is “constantly making choices throughout production of what’s going to make the game feel best and look its best”.
“[60fps] was really hard on The Last of Us Remastered and that’s a game we had finished and we knew exactly what the end result needs to look like,” the developer said. “Here we’re trying to push the boundaries of what this game can look and do realistic cutscenes, and trying to do 60[fps] is really hard.”
Asked whether 60fps was still the target, the developer replied:
“I don’t know. The objective for us is just to make the best experience and right now we’re trying to push the look. Then we’ll see where we’re at and re-assess. We’re constantly making choices throughout production of what’s going to make the game feel best and look its best.” Hopes for a 60fps Uncharted were raised after community strategist Arne Meyer stated that Naughty Dog would be targeting 1080p/60fps “with anything we’re doing on this generation”.
Uncharted 4 is scheduled to release later this year.
