The Order 1886: Latest Teaser Trailer is Frightening and Creepy
Sony PlayStation and Ready at Dawn have released a new teaser video for the upcoming video game, The Order 1886, and it is an absolute doozy. The video is available below and showcases some rather frightening imagery. The video does not appear to contain any actual new footage for the game, but it does provide a hint about the greater story of the game in the war between the humans and the Lycans. The new teaser video is incredibly ominous, creepy and downright frightening.
The video features a child singing a type of folklore-ish song about a young nine-year old boy named Bobby Paige. Apparently, Paige stayed out all night and was bitten by a creature, likely a Lycan. Paige came home, and you see Bobby Paige turn from a boy to a Lycan monster. Then, the lyrics say the boy tore his parents “limb from limb.” At least this does give a hint toward the evil machinations of the Lycans. It appears that the Lycans operate under similar rules of well known werewolf lore. If someone is bitten by a Lycan or “werewolf,” that person becomes a Lycan or werewolf. Of course, the tune in the video also has a resemblance to “London Bridges Falling Down.” Considering the subject matter of the game, it seems quite appropriate.
The video suddenly imbues the world of The Order 1886 with its own sense of folklore. Not to mention, the idea of the Lycans preying on young children and turning them into monsters who kill their parents is terrifying. Sony and Ready at Dawn have been quite mum on the Lycan conflict. The demos that I have played for the game have mostly focused on the Knights of the Round Table dealing with groups of rebel assailants. The intentions and goals of the rebellions are unknown. One wonders whether the rebellion is part of the manipulations by the Lycans; or perhaps the Lycans are a common enemy of the rebels and the Knights of the Round Table. My belief the former. I think there is a greater conspiracy at work. The war with the Lycans has apparently been going on for centuries. I assume the rebellion is a way to keep the Knights busy so the Lycans can enact their plans. So, the Lycans orchestrated the rebellion to weaken the Knights.
I hope all the elements come together well. My main concern regarding the game’s story is that the conflicts with the rebellion and the Lycans seem like two separate plots. Hopefully, the elements of the narrative come together in a cohesive fashion.
The release for The Order 1886 is just around the corner. The game hits the shelves on February 20. It will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
